ZB MED is also affected by the pandemic containment measures applicable from 2 November. The following regulations apply to the library in Cologne:

• Learning and workstations will no longer be available for the time being from Monday, 02 November 2020.
• Borrowing and returning books at the Cologne site is possible from Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM.

This temporary measure aims at slowing down the exponentially developing infection rate and actively supporting the measures adopted by the Federal Government and the Länder to contain the corona virus. 

We are pleased to be able to continue to offer you the use of our library services on site. At the same time we protect the health of our employees and visitors. Please help us to do so and observe the following binding rules: 

• Entering the library is only allowed with a mouth and nose protection mask on.
• Please keep to the specified distance markings.
• Please use the disinfectant when entering the library.
• We are obliged to keep a record of who has entered the building has entered.

Do you want to borrow media?

1. Borrowing of loanable items via LIVIVO:

• From now on you can pre-order the desired media in the usual way via our research portal LIVIVO.

2. Lending of media from the open shelving (textbooks, manuals, monographs from 2010 and patient literature) by e-mail

• From now on also this stock can be ordered. Please send us your order for these media by e-mail with the following information:
  - Your Librarycard number
  - Signatures of desired books. You will find the signature unter the tab "See ZB MED holdings" in LIVIVO.
   
• Bound manuals can be borrowed with a shortened loan period of 14 days. An extension of the manuals is not possible.
   
• Please note, a pre-order of the media is necessary in any case. The ordered literature will be ready for you to pick up the following day.

3. Order of journal volumes for scanning of articles

• Two scanners are available in the foyer, which can be used by appointment.
• You can order the desired journal volumes using the following form. You can use the form in the comments field to inform us of your desired date.
• You will receive a date proposal from us as to when you can use the book scanner. The appointment is given in the time of Mo-Fr from 9AM to 4PM for 1 hour.
• You register at the information desk, receive the journal volumes there and a scanner will be assigned to you
   
• Please bring a USB stick.

Do you want to return media?

• Media can only be returned via the book return box. You will find it during opening hours on the left in front of the entrance area of the building. 

Do you need a library card or need to extend the validity of your card?

• Library cards are issued and renewed exclusively by e-mail.
• The application for a new card and further information can be found here.
• To extend the validity of your library card send us an e-mail to ausleihe@zbmed.de with scan of both sides of your ID card and student card.

You want to pay outstanding fees? 

• You can pay outstanding fees as usual in person at the lending desk.
