DINI certificate for ElliNET publishing service - Seal of quality for service provided by German National Library of Medicine
The DINI certificate, which is currently in its third edition, is a prestigious quality seal for Open Access services. It assures the quality of document and publication services that make scientific and scholarly publications available online to a worldwide audience while providing secure archiving.
The goal of the DINI certificate is to create a transparent system of quality control for document and publication services. The certificate defines technical, organizational and legal issues that should be considered when setting up and running a document and publication service. The certificate is only awarded to services that meet certain minimum criteria. For example, the entire service should be available via a Web address. In addition, the operator of the document and publication service must provide publicly accessible guidelines, offer reasonable levels of support to authors and publishers, and operate on the basis of explicit agreements which clearly define how the rights are divided between the author and the publication service. To obtain the quality seal, the service must also fulfil certain technical requirements, such as the ability to safeguard the stored data at all times using backup systems. ElliNET fulfils all these criteria and was therefore selected as eligible to receive the DINI certificate.
