Silvia Di Giorgio defends her doctoral thesis

Her work centres on GRADitude, a computer-based tool for the systematic analysis of Grad-seq data, which advances research into RNA and protein complexes in bacteria.

Grad-seq is a method used by researchers to investigate how complexes of RNA and protein molecules function. GRADitude makes these analyses more reliable, reproducible and practical. The programme has been applied to various bacterial species, including E. coli, Salmonella and Streptococcus pneumoniae. This work makes an important contribution to advancing research into molecular complexes in bacteria.

Silvia Di Giorgio worked in Prof. Dr Konrad Förstner’s research group and completed her PhD at the University of Würzburg. On Friday 4 September 2026, she successfully defended her thesis.
