"GMS Infectious Diseases" marks new addition to German Medical Science
Cologne, 16. July 2013 – German Medical Science (gms) – the open access portal of the German National Library of Medicine (ZB MED), the Association of the Scientific Medical Societies in Germany (AWMF) and the German Institute of Medical Documentation and Information (DIMDI) – recently welcomed a new addition: The new journal "GMS Infectious Diseases" published by the Paul-Ehrlich-Gesellschaft für Chemotherapie e.V. (PEG) is now available through gms.
"GMS Infectious Diseases" is the 16th journal to be published on gms under the open access model, which means it is freely available online to anyone in the world. The journal focuses primarily on publishing relevant current research findings from the entire field of infectious diseases, ranging from microbiology to hospital practice and treatment. The first articles – which are already available online – deal with the treatment of tropical nematode, or roundworm, infections and with haemolytic-uraemic syndrome (HUS), a disease associated with renal failure and damage to the kidney's small blood vessels. These articles can be downloaded from www.egms.de/static/de/journals/id/.
Ulrich Korwitz, the Director of the ZB MED, is delighted with the new addition: "It's fantastic to see gms steadily expanding. We're looking forward to authors submitting more articles to get them approved for publication in GMS Infectious Diseases."
