ZB MED supports Action Plan on Diamond Open Access

Initiative aims for a scholarly publishing infrastructure that is equitable, community-driven, academic-led and -owned.

In March 2022, Science Europe, cOAlition S, OPERAS and the French National Research Agency (ANR) launched the Action Plan on Diamond Open Access. The plan wants to further improve the efficiency, quality standards, capacity building, and sustainability of Diamond Open Access. It focuses on alignment and the building of common resources and aims to support the creation of an inclusive worldwide community that is equipped with the tools to strengthen existing Diamond Open Access journals and platforms, and to increase their visibility.

Diamond Open Access describes scientific and scholarly publications that can be read free of charge by anyone in the world and for which no publication fees are charged to the authors. It is therefore the fairest form of Open Access for all parties involved, because everyone can participate in the scientific discourse without payment barriers.

ZB MED is one of the official supporting organisations of the Action Plan on Diamond Open Access. Further endorsements - by both organisations and private individuals - are welcome via the website.
