61st Edition of MAK and BAT Values List Published for Workplace Health Protection

The 2025 edition is now available on PUBLISSO as of 1 July.

This publication presents the latest scientific recommendations for assessing risks posed by substances in workplace environments. It is updated annually by the Permanent Senate Commission for the Investigation of Health Hazards of Chemical Compounds in the Work Area of the German Research Foundation (DFG). 

The 2025 list includes newly evaluated substances such as lithium and formaldehyde releasers. In addition, occupational exposure limits have been revised for twelve substances. For five others, updated information has been provided on the BAT (Biological Tolerance Values) or BAR (Biological Reference Values) — key indicators for assessing internal exposure levels.

Comprehensive scientific justifications for all updated values are published in the journal The MAK Collection for Occupational Health and Safety, which is also available on PUBLISSO.
