For licensing reasons, full-text access to subscription-based electronic journals is only available on site in the ZB MED Reading Room in Cologne (IP domain: 134.95.56.*). In addition, certain titles include a remote-access licence, which allows registered users to access them from any location by logging in with their ZB MED library card.
Remote-access licences are identified by the following note in the licence records: “Per Fernzugriff für registrierte ZB MED-Nutzerinnen und -Nutzer” ("Available via remote access for registered ZB MED users").
If you are unable to access journals marked with a yellow traffic light symbol, despite being in the ZB MED reading room or the journal being designated as a remote-access licence, please contact us via e-mail..
Observe the license terms!
Please make sure to strictly observe the following conditions of use when using electronic journals. It is expressly prohibited to
- download the entire contents of journal issues;
- systematically copy or reproduce journal articles;
- systematically forward journal contents in electronic form to unauthorised users;
- re-sell journal articles to third parties.
Publishers monitor compliance with these licence terms, and any infringement may result in the suspension of access for all users under the affected licence.
DFG-funded national licence archives:
To ensure long-term access to specialist electronic resources for universities, research institutions and academic libraries throughout Germany, the German Research Foundation (DFG) has funded the acquisition of national licences since 2004.
The aim is to provide researchers, students and interested members of the public with free access to databases, digital text collections and electronic journals.
At present, nine institutions across Germany hold nationwide licence agreements with learned societies, publishers and other information providers. These institutions also serve as contact points for data provision.
