Ziel des Lehrganges ist die Prävention und das rettungsmedizinische Management des Lawinenunfalls sowie die Therapie von Lawinenopfern (auch Kälteschäden und Erfrierungen). Die Inhalte werden in praxisnahen Seminaren vermittelt. Theorie und Praxis der LVS-Suche, Einweisung in das medizinische Notfallequipment beim Lawinenunfall, Aktive Gefahrenbeurteilung im Gelände, Pathophysiologie der Lawinenverschüttung, Verletzungsmuster von Lawinenopfern und Erstversorgung, Therapiestrategien bei Erfrierungen und bei generalisierter Hypothermie
