Service Center Diamond Open Access
SeDOA aims to enhance the efficiency of the diamond open access (DOA) publishing system in Germany. Its goal is to support decentralised institutions in improving their technical and procedural services while providing central innovations for DOA.
Project focus areas
- Support for open access journals and books: SeDOA will provide publishing opportunities through existing infrastructures and specific services developed within the project.
- Networking and governance: A governance structure will be established to manage the project and its long-term successor organisation. One of its key tasks will be to ensure the integration of SeDOA into both German and international networks.
- Community workshops and guidelines: Workshops will promote the sharing of knowledge across discipline-specific and international networks. Collaboratively developed guidelines will enable the standardisation of scientific publishing practices.
- Establishment of a German Diamond Open Access Capacity Centre: This central hub will act as a single point of contact for DOA stakeholders, coordinating existing services as well as offering its own services. It will work closely with the European Diamond Capacity Hub and the Global Diamond Open Access Alliance.
Innovation and infrastructure
- Metadata and visibility: By mapping DOA publications in Germany and building a database-driven registry based on existing resources, the project will enhance the quality and visibility of metadata.
- SeDOA Innovation Lab (SIL): The Innovation Lab will develop pioneering publication models and serve as a sounding board for all relevant DOA stakeholders.
ZB MED’s role in the project
- Work package 2:
The aim of this work package is to create a publishing hub that will connect editors and authors with tailored publishing infrastructures provided by project partners. Up to 150 publication projects can be completed free of charge during the project period.
This work package will be led by ZB MED.
- Work package 4:
As the project’s main bridging link, this work package drives the connection between local and international initiatives, coordinates the exchange of information and results, and ensures seamless integration into a global workflow. ZB MED leads the life sciences efforts in this area.
