BIO Network for Training
BioNT was an international consortium of academic institutions and SMEs, aiming to establish a high-quality training programme and community for digital skills relevant to the biotechnology industry and the biomedical sector.
The programme comprised two curricula: A foundational curriculum was aimed at employees or jobseekers with limited prior experience in the processing and visualisation of biological data and/or the use of computational biology tools. An advanced curriculum targeted data stewards, system administrators, and other professionals holding a leading role in managing and providing computational resources in their workplace. Both curricula built on the consortium members' strong expertise in digital skills, as well as on a broad network of collaborations and other initiatives aimed at professionalising data management, processing, and analysis in the life sciences.
Standardisation and state-of-the-art technological implementation reinforced the project's training and outreach activities. The programme was built on short, dedicated online workshops and training recordings, and produced specific training material as open educational resources, made available on a dedicated web platform.
Thanks to the consortium's structure and strong connections to relevant networks, the project ensured sustainability and efficient knowledge transfer to stakeholders throughout its duration and beyond, supported by a clearly defined and transparent management system.
