NACHGEFRAGT with Prof. Konrad Förstner: Do we still need libraries and search portals?

Wednesday, 17.11.2021

NACHGEFRAGT AT ZB MED: More than a search engine: LIVIVO - Infrastructures for the life sciences.

In the new YouTube video, Prof. Konrad Förstner answers the question of whether we still need libraries and search portals when Google and Google Scholar exist.

In an interview with Elke Roesner, Konrad Förstner, the head of ZB MED's Data Science and Services department, explains why the life sciences need specialized search portals like LIVIVO. He explains the advantages of the ZB MED search portal over other discovery services, how LIVIVO is structured, and why it is an important infrastructure for the life sciences.

The discovery service LIVIVO builds on ZB MED's Knowledge Environment, which due to its modularity allows the construction of different services and serves as a basis for research projects. Last but not least, part of LIVIVO also flows into the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI), for example in the NFDI4Microbiota consortium.

NACHGEFRAGT - ZB MED's video podcast on YouTube - presents topics, projects and the people behind them at regular intervals. The videos are in German with English subtitles.
