Kurzinfo

Building on the success of last year’s congress, the XV. Humanitarian Congress Berlin to be held 25 – 27th October 2013 will unite more than 70 international experts in over 20 lectures, workshops, case studies and panel discussions.

This year’s topic “No Access! Who cares? How to reach people in need” will cover humanitarian aid in refugee camps, poisoning through extracting industries and the treatment of tuberculosis and meningitis. Moreover, the debates will discuss mother and child healthcare in danger zones and gaps in the global humanitarian system. The congress will raise the question if drones and satellites as information-gathering devices are legitimate in humanitarian crises.

The Humanitarian Congress Berlin is an international platform for the exchange of information, experiences and ideas related to humanitarian aid. Each year, the congress brings together experts from medical, humanitarian and international organisations, politics, media as well as a large number of students from different subject areas.

With around 700 participants and speakers from around the world in 2012, the Humanitarian Congress Berlin has established itself as an important forum in the world of humanitarian aid. The congress offers a unique mix of medical and political panels, keynote speeches and debates. Additionally, a number of workshops inform about the most recent developments in humanitarian assistance.

The congress is complemented by a Humanitarian Forum where organisations will present themselves, their projects as well as their structures, values and operations. Representatives of the respective exhibitors will be present to answer questions.
