Licence to transform a subscription model to an open access model for the Thieme journal "Hormone and Metabolic Research"
On the initiative of ZB MED and Forschungszentrum Jülich, a consortium of thirteen other specialist libraries has joined forces to conclude a transformation agreement with the Thieme Group. As part of an initial pilot project, German authors at participating institutions will initially be given the opportunity to publish original papers in the international Thieme journal "Hormones and Metabolic Research" at no additional cost open access. The licence fee that libraries have so far paid to the publisher for the use of the journal will increasingly be converted into a publication fee under the five-year contract.
The current contract between the Thieme Group and the fifteen members of the expandable library consortium regulates both the gradual transformation of an existing subscription journal into an Open Access offering and the associated financing. Other titles can potentially be integrated into the project.
