The primary goal of our project work is to develop application-oriented services for science and research. What are the current trends in science and research? What do your users need and expect from a specialist information institution? How can you separate relevant trends from dead-end trends? ZB MED strives to answer these questions by carrying out innovative market research and cutting-edge projects.
"Projects should generate products – or components of a product." That's the aim of all the projects carried out at ZB MED. Sustainable and sensible use of financial and staff resources helps boost Germany's status as a major player in the world of science and research.
Our current projects
Living Handbooks is an open access publishing platform run by ZB MED – Information Centre for Life Sciences in cooperation with gms (German Medical Science) and AWMF (German Association of Scientific Medical Societies). This project is currently in a pilot phase. The goal is to provide access to up-to-date scientific information by drawing on the worldwide cooperation of experts in each specific discipline. Authors can add contributions themselves and update them at any time, thereby helping to create a multimedia, "living" handbook. As well as text, the handbooks can also contain images, research data, virtual 3D models, audio and video files. The Editorial Board consists of a team of experts who are responsible for ensuring high-quality content.
