ZB MED and the Leibniz Association
The Leibniz Association is a non-academic organisation comprising 91 research institutes and scientific service facilities. It is funded by the German central government and federal states under Article 91b of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany. The institutes are of national importance and play a key role in the country’s science policy infrastructure.
As a former member of the Leibniz Association, ZB MED has close and enduring ties to the organisation. It continues to support Leibniz institutes in its role as a key part of the national information infrastructure for life sciences. ZB MED is a strong advocate for open access publications and research data and plays an active role in Leibniz Association working groups including “AK Open Access” and “AK Research Data”. ZB MED is also a member of the Leibniz Association’s Science 2.0 research group.
Other key areas of collaboration
ZB MED works particularly closely with Germany’s two other big national specialist libraries (ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics and TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology) as well as with Cologne University, Bonn University and TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences. Other regular cooperation partners include university libraries, all the life sciences institutes of the Leibniz Association, and a number of other scientific institutions and academic libraries both in Germany and around the world.
By working with its cooperation partners, ZB MED is able to maintain a close focus on its users at all times, providing researchers with the information and literature they need.
