Help on uploading electronic publications

The DigiTool software is an easy-to-use tool for uploading your documents to ElliNET:

1. To use the tool, you will first need to sign up by clicking “Register”. All fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required. You can choose any user name (User ID) and password you like, as long as it does not contain any spaces.

2. Click "Submit" once you have entered your registration details and the Profile Request screen will appear. The “Choose your library” drop-down list allows you to select the library where you wish your publication to be saved. Select “Deutsche Zentralbibliothek f. Medizin” from the list.

3. In the second box, specify the type of document you wish to upload (e.g. thesis, professorial dissertation, monograph, conference publication, etc.).

4. You will receive an email confirming that your registration has been successful.

5. Log on with your user name and password to access your “Folders” area. This is where you can check your document's status.

6. Select “New deposit activity” and confirm the type of publication you wish to upload for archiving.

7. When you click “Next”, a form will appear. Please enter as much information (metadata) on your publication as possible. Mandatory fields are once again indicated by an asterisk (*).

8. In the next step, you will need to confirm that you have read the Publishing Agreement and that you will sign it and send it to us. Important: Please remember that we will not be able to approve your publication until we have received your signed Publishing Agreement.

9. Click Next, then find the publication you wish to upload on your hard drive or data storage device and upload it.

10. The site will now display a summary of the information you entered in the form for you to check.
Click “Submit” to complete the transfer process. You will now return to the Folders area where the number of files you have uploaded is clearly indicated in your “Submitted” folder.

11. Clicking “Save” will put the submission and upload process on hold, allowing you to make further revisions and other changes at a later point. Next time you log in, the saved file will still be in your Folders area.

12. Once the library has checked your publication and completed and/or corrected the data required for the catalogue, you can check its current status in your Folders area.

13. Your publication has now been permanently archived and is accessible by running a search in DigiBib

or by using the ZB MED`s specialist subject portals
