ZB MED in Cologne announces shutdown of Web OPAC service on 19 February 2013

Restricted services available during switchover period

The German National Library of Medicine (ZB MED) is making new improvements to its services. Library users at the Cologne site currently access and manage their user accounts through the OPAC system. To allow them to use the convenient search functions of the MEDPILOT portal, the ZB MED integrated the “Medicine. Health.” catalogue and all its functions within the portal. For the last few months, both systems have been running in parallel as part of a switchover phase. The ZB MED has now announced that it will be shutting down the “Medicine. Health.“ OPAC system on 19 February 2013. From this date onwards, library users in Cologne will only be able to access their user accounts through the MEDPILOT portal.

This change offers numerous benefits: MEDPILOT makes it easy to access full texts online, and its semantic search technology produces bigger and more detailed lists of search results. In addition, MEDPILOT offers the ability to perform article-level searches. In order to access and manage your user account in MEDPILOT, you will need to complete a one-off registration process.
