ElliNET  (Electronic Literature on the Net) offers authors the chance to publish their scientific texts from the fields of Medicine, Health, Nutrition, Environment and Agriculture. In accordance with the principles of Open Access, these publications can be accessed over the Internet without restrictions.
There is no charge to publish, archive or use the documents.

In compliance with copyright and related rights ElliNET ensures

• the permanent availability via the Internet
• a high visibility by supraregional integration into searchable library catalogues and specialized portals
• citability by providing the documents with persistent identifiers (DOIs)
• guaranteed data security even by technical conversions

This applies to primary as well as to secondary publications, for example documents already published on an Institute's website.

Texts that have been published as part of a journal or book may only be available for use under licence – even though in many cases the publishing agreement signed with the author includes the right to additionally publish the text in an in-house or specialist repository under the open access system.

ElliNET is also the institutional repository of the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne.
