To search for books published prior to 1977 which have not yet been incorporated in the catalogue (this only applies to a limited number of pre-1977 books), please use the microfiche catalogue.

Our open-access holdings include:

• a selection of key manuals, compendiums and textbooks (ground floor reading room);
• dictionaries and encyclopaedias (ground floor reading room);
• bibliographies (LFI building, lower level);
• books acquired by the library since 2005 (ground floor reading room);
• patient reference materials (ground floor reading room).

Ordering items from the closed stack

You can use our catalogue to order the following items:

• books acquired up to 2004 (books acquired since 2005 are available from the open access shelving in the reading room);
• doctoral and postdoctoral (Habilitation) theses.

Orders placed before 12.30 p.m. can be collected from the lending desk from 2 p.m. on the same day. Orders submitted after 12.30 p.m. cannot be collected until the following day (weekdays excluding Saturdays). Special conditions apply to books published prior to 1962.
Please note that we cannot accept orders by telephone.

Microfiches

Microfiche (shelf mark: year of publication + MB + serial number) are items that can not be taken out on loan.

They are available from the issue desk for use in the reading room only. You will be required to leave your library card at the desk as a deposit until you return the microfiche. Microform readers are available to view the microfiche in the reading room.

If you require a paper copy of an entire microfiche or specific parts of a microfiche, you will need to fill out a white charge slip. These slips are available in the reading rooms and at the issue desk. Please tick the section "verbindlich eine Aufsatzkopie zur Abholung" (I confirm that I wish to collect a copy of the microfiche sections indicated) and hand the slip in to the issue desk together with the microfiche.

Please note that we can only make complete copies of works published up until 2006. Due to copyright restrictions, we can only provide paper copies of max. 25% of works published subsequent to 2006. Your paper copies will be ready to collect approximately one week after handing in the slip. The cost is EUR 1.50 for up to 10 pages, and then EUR 0.15 per page for any additional pages after that.

Is something missing from our catalogue?
Some older books have not yet been fully incorporated in our electronic catalogue and newer items may still be in the process of being added. Whichever case applies, please contact our Reference desk for more information.

Book locations

Reading room (2^nd floor):

• These shelves contain the library's reference collection. These holdings are freely available for browsing and photocopying, but cannot be taken out on loan.

Closed stack (1^st and 2^nd basement levels):

• The holdings on the first basement level are freely accessible and can be browsed, photocopied and taken out on loan.
• The holdings on the second basement level can only be viewed by prior appointment. Items that you wish to take out on loan must be pre-ordered.
