Development

The requirements profile for the software was developed from a user perspective. The aim was that the MedPilot Web interface should be affected as little as possible by ‘insider library knowledge’.

The homepage was designed as a simple search interface with just one input field for conducting open searches (searches across multiple database fields). Users can simply enter their search term and begin searching through multiple, predefined databases (including Medline).

Further development has seen the addition of various new aspects, including interfaces to ZB MED’s Document Order Receive and Delivery System (DOD system) and to various DIMDI databases and full-text archives.

Cooperation partners

MEDPILOT is a joint project with the German Institute of Medical Documentation and Information (DIMDI).
