Projects at the ZB MED

The primary goal of our project work is to continuously improve our supply of full texts while developing application-oriented services for science and research. What are the current trends in science and research? What do your users need and expect from a specialist information institution? How can you separate relevant trends from dead-end trends? The ZB MED strives to answer these questions by carrying out innovative market research and cutting-edge projects.

"Projects should generate products – or components of a product." That is the aim of all the projects carried out at the ZB MED. Sustainable and sensible use of financial and staff resources helps boost Germany's status as a major player in the world of science and research.

Ongoing projects

Digital Collection: Physical anthropology collection

eyeMoviePedia: Video portal for the field of ophthalmology. Primarily focuses on video recordings of eye surgery.

GREENPILOT: Portal for the subjects of nutritional, environmental and agricultural science. Compiles research information in a format that is accessible to users.

Digital long-term archiving / Retro-digitalization:  Conservation of print and born-digital materials using the techniques of long-term archiving and retro-digitalization.

German Medical Science: Publication portal for scientific journals, congress publications and research reports which gives scientists the opportunity to publish their research results online.

MEDPILOT: Medical information portal with integrated ordering functions. Aims to provide rapid, user-oriented, multi-database access to specialist medical information. Primary user groups: doctors, students and scientists. Project as part of the Pact for Research and Innovation.

MEZHMedInform: Cooperative project to promote the supply of information and literature in the field of medicine in Russia.

Haematology/Oncology Topic-Oriented Information Network (TIHO): Free, up-to-date system which allows users to search for clinical studies in the field of haemato-oncology. The studies are selected according to evidence-based medicine criteria. The database features randomised controlled studies and clinical controlled studies from 1958 onwards.

vascoda content and quality management: Interdisciplinary Internet portal for scientific information in Germany. Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Research Foundation (DFG). The ZB MED participated in vascoda projects between 2002 and 2008.
